Baptism

Baptism is God’s embrace. This embrace is for a lifetime—and beyond.

God comes to us as we are. We baptize infants and adults. We believe baptism is God embraces us long before we are able to embrace God.

God uses ordinary water from the facet for this promise of grace. God receives ordinary people in this gift. We trust that this water is woven together with ancient words of God’s embrace. We fall in step with the earliest followers of Jesus and baptize in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

You need not be baptized again. Since baptism is God’s embrace, we believe that is not necessary for someone to be re-baptized at our place. We trust that when God has ahold of us, God does not let us go.

You need not be a member of Magnolia Lutheran Church. However, we ask that each baptized person be active involved in growing in faith.

Baptism is free. There is no charge for the church or for the pastor. This eternal gift of love is completely free.

Baptism is costly. Baptism is both a dying and a rising. It is about both our brokenness and our becoming. God continues to work on us long after the baptismal ceremony. Called into community, we are invited to rise into newness of life.
