Who We Are

Statement of Beliefs

Affirmation of Welcome

Magnolia Lutheran Church is where everyone can find a welcoming, caring, friendly home. Here is a sanctuary, filled with the love and grace of our Lord and modeled by our Savior Jesus Christ. We believe God’s love is for everyone and so commit to provide inclusive acceptance, spiritual nourishment, inspiring kindness and a gracious and loving faith community.

We believe all of God's creations are holy and welcome to receive the sacraments, and to share in fellowship and service here. All people of every ability, race, family or marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic condition and background belong here, Reconciling in Christ as children of God.

All are beautiful as they are
All are part of God’s masterpiece
All are loved as they are
     All are welcome here

What We Believe

Grace. Grace. Grace.

This is why we gather.
Grace is the love of God.
God loves creation — the earth, the sea, the sky.
God loves all the creatures of the earth — the wild ones and the domesticated.
God loves people. All people. No exceptions. Period. Exclamation point.

Grace. Grace. Grace.

This is why we gather. Grace comes with a human touch.
God loves the universe so much he gave us Jesus — the embodiment of grace.
We invite each other to live as Jesus lived; and to love as Jesus loved.
But it isn’t easy. After all, we’re only human. We step on toes. We have regrets.
We gather to be forgiven. We gather to grow in the art of forgiving.

Grace. Grace. Grace.

It is a momentary pause before supper — and so much more than that.
It’s why we gather together. If God so loved the world, perhaps we can too.
We are called in the stories than came before Jesus and in the stories that came afterwards.
To care for our neighbor’s needs
To feed those who are hungry
To stand beside those who are alone
     To speak up for justice
To take care of the earth
For if God so loved the earth, sea and sky,
We are called to enjoy and care for the City, the Forest and the Salish Sea.

Grace.

It’s forgiveness.
It’s love.
It’s free.
It’s life. It’s for you.

Come, and find a welcome.
